Welcome to the Arts Commons! You can’t really tell from here, but it’s actually the size of an entire city block!
Covering over 400,000 square feet, it holds a number of different features including several theatres, concert halls, rehearsal halls, offices, and even a café!
The theatres aren't small either! There's the 1800 seat Jack Singer Concert Hall, the 750 seat Max Bell Theatre, the 418 seat Martha Cohen Theatre and the 190 seat Secret Theatre.
Opening in 1985, the complex was originally called the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts. In 2014 though, the name was changed to the Arts Commons! This was in order to let the organization branch out into other kinds of art, not just the performing arts.
Today the Arts Commons is one of the three largest arts centres in Canada, and is great if you want to see a play, musical, opera, or take a workshop!
If you're visiting the city and have some time to spare, taking in a performance here is a great way to spend it. I've posted a link on the stop description if you'd like to see what's playing and learn more!
