Just across the street ahead of you is the current home of Calgary’s oldest Protestant congregation, Knox United Church! The congregation first came together in 1883 and was officially named the Knox Presbyterian Church.
After moving through a few buildings for themselves, they finally came to find a home in this church! Built between 1912 and 1913, the Knox United Church is one of the largest historic churches in the city! The Gothic Revival style of the building was designed by the Allen and Collens architectural firm! Allen and Collens were a very famous firm in the 1910’s-1920’s, and were even hired a number of times by John D. Rockefeller himself!
And hey, if you want to grab a cup of coffee, look no further! Knox United Church has its very own café called Sanctuary Coffee, where you can enjoy a nice cup o’ joe and a sense of community!
