Alright folks, grab you life jacket, pool noodles and water wings because we’re hitting the lake!! Actually you know what, leave them home because where we’re going.. You can literally float without them! We’re about 150km South of Little Manitou Lake, which is one of the most unique lakes in the world!
The water possesses natural therapeutic skin and body care properties and also has the added bonus of being incredibly buoyant! One of the earliest known uses of this water was to treat a variety of illnesses, but one disease in particular! What do you think it was?

B) Typhus
Or C) Smallpox
So the water treated, a) black death, b) typhus or c) smallpox?
The answer is…C! The people of Assiniboine afflicted with smallpox were supposedly cured after drinking and submerging themselves in the water of Little Manitou Lake! Although modern medicine has proven much more effective, the lake remains a popular tourist resort due to its unique mineral waters.
