If you look to the South.. well.. and North, you’ll see a river.. The Nottawasaga River in fact, which we’ll be  passing over in just a second! Sooo we’ve inflated our inner tubes, got them all tied together, our sunny’s are on and the music's playing.. Yep we’re ready to float!

 

Well, on this river we’d float all the way from Orangeville, about 60 kilometre’s to the South, through the Niagara Escarpment, into the Minesing Wetlands, right under this highway and finally, into Georgian Bay!

 

So we’re floating along, having the time of our lives and all of a sudden we see a bunch of fish jumping out of the water trying to get up a mini-waterfall. 

 

Well that my floating friends, that is a school of Rainbow Trout using a fish ladder! A fish ladder is a series of small steps that help fish migrate around blocked areas and dams!

 

Rainbow Trout often swim upriver in order to spawn.. Soo uhhh.. What do you think spawning means?
