Annnnd here we are... we’ve finally ‘landed’ just 4 km south of Pilot But... haha no no I’m not being rude, it’s the actual genuine, honest to goodness name, I swear!
Ok, ok you got me. Although it LOOKS like Pilot But, it’s actually pronounced Pilot Butte.
In the 1950s, it gained popularity as a commuting town for those working in Regina and has been growing ever since!
So, what do you think the name ‘Pilot Butte’ means?
Could it be;
A) Lookout Point
B) Community Hill
Or C)Beautiful City?
The answer is… A! The name comes from a flat topped hill that was used as a lookout for hunting buffalo. Pilot Butte has been a significant area throughout history as the Aboriginals used it as a lookout and signal point to find and hunt the ever important Buffalo.
Well, I hope you had a good time in Pilot But! … haha oh come on, just because that’s not really how to pronounce it doesn’t mean I’M not going to call it that!
