You guys think your soooo smart, getting all these right answers and what not.. Well riddle me this!! What’s tall, rocky, related and likes things in threes? Anybody? Alright alright.. I’ll tell you.. Like usual. hehe.. It’s the three sisters mountains! Located 25 km’s to the West, they were originally called the three nuns after a snowfall left them looking like nuns in a veil. That’s great, but THENNN good ole George Dawson, head of the Geological Survey of Canada officially named them the Three Sisters (Faith, Charity, and Hope) in 1886. Just to make it a little bit more difficult, they are ALSO referred to as Frances, Olive, and Grace, the daughters of Rocky Mountain National Park’s first superintendent. Geez pick a name, ladies! Well, whatever you want to call them, they were formed 200 MILLION years ago from shifting tectonic plates and limestone.

Sooo how do you think limestone is formed? Is it,

a.) Running water rich with sediment,

b) Lime trees that grow and drop limes onto rock, or,

C.) The accumulation of fossils and debris?

If you picked C, fossils and debris... WOO HOO! Limestone is formed from the accumulation of shell, coral, algal, and fecal debris! Fecal debris hey.. I don’t think I’ll be able to look at a mountain the same way again..
