Audio Transcript
The beautiful fountain you're looking at is called the Trafalgar fountain. It was originally one of two designed by Sir Charles Barry, architect of the British houses of parliament. These fountains were displayed in Trafalgar Square in London, England from 1845 to 1939.
So the fountain is one of two built, well if you're wondering what happened to the other one, it's in Canada too, sprouting its water for all to see. It serves as a memorial to lieutenant Colonel By, founder of Bytown, which was later renamed Ottawa.
So if you ever find yourself in the nation's capital, do the fountain of favor and say hi to its long lost sibling.
