Audio Excerpt
If you take a gander to the west, you should see a vast and pristine tree line.. If not, well, just give it a few seconds! And remember, patience isn’t just the ability to wait, it’s how we behave while we’re waiting...so be good alright! Anyways… that treeline, well, that’s the White River National Forest! A magical place where all you adventurous outdoors types can get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Sounds pretty good right!? This region has been preserved in order for human activity to have a minimal footprint, with all activities nature-based and primitive. There’s (8) wilderness areas within the national forest, with regulations firmly enforced to protect its natural beauty and wildlife.
I know I know there’s SOME people out there who might find this lack of technology and industry uh, a little boring.. well... we’re going to have to prove to them that’s there’s nothing boring about it! The forest has 11 ski resorts, (10) mountain peaks that soar over 14,000 feet high, thousands of miles … yes THOUSANDS.. of scenic trails to hike, canyons to explore and back country slopes to ski! Need more proof? Well it just happens to be the most visited national park in the United States!
So, one of the most pristine areas in the National Forest is Trappers Lake, also known as… well, can you guess? Is it,
A - The Cradle of the Wilderness, B - the Water of Ancestors, or C - the Place Where Bears Eat You?
And again, Trappers Lake is also known as A) cradle of the wilderness, B) water of ancestors or C) place where bears eat you?
If you guessed A, The Cradle of the Wilderness, you’re correct! Buuuuuut there are definitely still plenty of bears, elk, mountain lions and bobcats to eat yo…. I mean, to help you really experience nature..
